62. Remember Tsebey

I am sitting in bed enjoying the beautiful morning, outside are the birds, and the children and people starting their day as though it was any other.

Yesterday a young person, Tsebey, in Tibet, burned himself to death because life under Chinese rule is unbearable.  He was the 96th person to do this and the world does nothing.  They say, with some justification, that because they do not resort to violence, the world does not bother.

22 year old Tsebey
Yesterday It rained most of the day.  There was a candle lit march around the town for Tsebey .

My young guitar playing friend showed me some of his poems - an extraordinary and moving mixture of youth cool and almost religious yearnings.
